Val D'Isere first became known as a great skiing location during the 1930's however by the end of the second world war it had made the transition to a ski resort known for it's warm welcome and fantastic skiing.
Val D'Isere and it's neighbouring resort Tignes, form the infamous Espace Killy ski area. With 155 runs, 300km of slopes from 1550m up to 3450m.
Doing more in Val D'Isere
Although the skiing is amazing, Val D'Isere is as well known for it's nightlife. With many good bars and nightclubs for those wanting to party the night away, many offer live music, however it's not a cheap resort so you will need plenty of Euros ready!! The resort also offers some of the finest dining in the Alps, plus a host of good savoyarde (local) restaurants, fish restaurants and Italian pizzeria's.
The shopping in Val D'Isere isn't just limited to skis and boards, there are plenty of well known brands and designer stores to gaze and potter around.
For those not skiing, the resort offers an outdoor ice rink, great sports centre with gym, swimming pool & toddler pool, sauna, steam room, spa, squash courts, children's soft play area and climbing wall. There is a cinema, where English films are shown throughout the week. For the more adventurous there is snowmobiling, ice driving, parasailing, helicopter flights and much more.
